CNNGo dishes up the finest food Japan has to offer. From tempura, to ramen, to Kobe beef, we are on the road for a culinary journey
through a country that is bursting with flavor. First stop on our food tour – Tokyo. The bustling capital is a gourmet wonderland and top of its food game. We learn the secrets of the trade involved in making the popular fried dish of tempura, as well as go behind the kitchen with Michelin star Chef Narisawa and his signature “Soil Soup”. From the capital, CNNgo is off to Kobe – home to the famous Kobe beef. We visit a cattle farm to learn what it takes to produce top quality Wagyu and crack down on all the myths surrounding it. Kobe isn’t only famous for its cattle though, as one of the world’s major sake producing regions we are given an inside look into how the popular Japanese beverage is made – with lots of taste testing along the way . And finally, we travel down south, to the shore island of Kyushu and its capital, Fukuoka. No food journey of Japan would be complete without Ramen, and in Fukuoka, Hakata Ramen is their speciality. We meet the founder of famous ramen chain ‘Ichiran’ and eat our way through his ramen factory. And to round the day off, we do as the locals do, and eat some of the best street food in Japan at Fukuoka’s Yatai.
