Two degrees south of the Arctic Circle is Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital. Perched on the south west coast, Iceland's capital is home to over two thirds of the nation's population. It's a city of hot water pools, frozen lava landscapes, and delicious winter delicacies including fermented shark, sheep's head and puffin pie. On a clear night the sky is decorated with the dancing northern lights. The Vikings were the first to be enchanted and settle here, but with a thriving culture scene today's inhabitants are more hipster than historic, making Reykjavik an upbeat, naturally beautiful and fascinating place to visit.
